| Some habitat photos of a few Oxalis species with
different color flowers. All from the winter rainfall area
in the Western Cape, South Africa . click on
the photos to enlarge. The Oxalis species
grows very well with the aloes as they loose their leaves and
go dormant in
the dry summer. The tubers do not want to be watered
in the summer but they do not mind the little water that is needed for
the aloes. They appear again in the winter rain season with their gay brightly colored flowers. |

| One common (not endemic
to South Africa) Oxalis species
is mostly seen as a weed world wide, but take a look at some beautiful rare endemic Oxalis species.
The variation is not only in the color of the flowers, the leaves of the different
species vary a lot as well. |
